  1. It’s hard to beat Bach when it comes to the harpsichord. My favorite hour in music might be the first half of the well-tempered clavier played on a harpsichord.

    1. Ah yes. Are you familiar with the Glenn Gould version? Its out of this world. Nothing like Bach. He was the original. I absolutely love the Harpsichord. As I gather more money( to purchase one), one of my end goals in life is to be able to play it very well. I think one of the main reasons being…I love the Baroque (music) period in particular. Bach was the one who came before all…no one can deny the impact musically and spiritually he had. There is something in almost all of his pieces that just transcends anything I’ve heard. Even the choral pieces are just…they take my breath away. But then there are so many geniuses in the Baroque period…they all had their own distinctions. Ahh, ultimate peace in Baroque. That and classical and Baroque guitar. May I never wake up from the dream of such divine music.

P.S. Sorry for the rant 🙂

      1. I enjoy a lot of medieval and renaissance music, so I enjoy listening for those influences in baroque. Bach certainly brought music to a whole other level. He’s one of those geniuses that only comes around once in a few centuries.

Thanks for pointing me to the Gould version. I’ll have to include it in my rotation.

      2. Oh yes, yes. I LOVE medieval and renaissance music. Actually that’s an understatement. Its one of the few “genres”(I dislike that word) of music that has the ability to just give me the ultimate calm and peace, no matter my “current state”. Almost likened to a “coming home” feeling. Just pure and utter warmth.

I must say though, I can appreciate originality in whatever form it may come (“genres” aside). Its true, that I believe with the advent of modernity and its spread of “knowledge” that a lot of “originality” in the truest sense has morphed from what it used to be. But I know for a FACT through my own experience that there is still a LOT out there and that’s what makes my life beautiful. Exploring. Not just the “genres” of music but the “genres” of life and all it contains. I am an explorer at heart…

I hope you enjoy Gould. I will soon be posting a medieval album (voices) that has escaped me (the title that is). I found it by perchance at the library( this often happens with some of my best “finds”, not looking…you tend to find. I listen to so much and have throughout so much of my life…that names often escape me. But sound, Definitely not. I post a lot of music here by the way. Hopefully, you can discover some new things that you may really like. 🙂
